Hey everyone,

I have two divided betta tanks, 10 gallons tanks, but 5 gallons for each betta. I'm having a problem with brown and green algae. I do water changes and check the parameteres and everything is ok, i only give 8 hours of light a day. I am wondering what kind of fish would be a good algae cleaner upper that i could put in just 5 gallons. I was leaning more towards shrimp because I dont want a chinese algae eater getting violet as it gets older. Any help would be great

I would go with shrimp or a small mystery snail. Bettas will sometimes make a fancy snack out of the shrimp. But...try shrimp first, if your bettas react well to them then voila :D problem solved. Good luck mate.

I would go for cherry shrimp, they are really fun to watch. Most likely when you bettas see the shrimp, they will go for them. Shrimp are really quick though, my boy exhausted himself chasing them around  . He tried so hard to catch one and failed in the end. He eventually gave up and now doesn't give the shrimp a second look.
