Hi Guys.

I've got a new light for my 60 litre tank. I replaced the sun-glo with a power-glow and its miles better, showing my fishes colours etc however I have a lot of brown algae thats startet to grow on th e plant leaves etc but not really on the glass. Can anyone help me with how to deal with this. I dont want to kill my plants by scrubbing the leaves but it's beginning to look a little unsightly?

Cheers
Glynn

Otos are good algae eaters.
Edit: Take a look at their profile under the species index for more info.

Hi is your tank fairly new if it is and its brown alge, not to worry mine has it to but it starting to clear now , this is common with new tanks I have some alge eating shrimp, shrimp do not add bioload to the tank but your fish might eat them if you have big fish so far mine are fine I have ghoast shrimp and cherry shrimp, I believe the cherry shrimp are alge eaters. ^_^ :fish:

Thanks Pat, It's a couple of months old. I did a 40% water change, and I increased the waterflow a lot and it seems to be getting better now. I cleaned one leaf with the algae cleaner and it's still fine so if it's not all gone by the weekend I'll do a full tank re-arrange and clean everything. I have Glass Cats and a plec that I'm concerned would eat the Cherry's if i put them in? What do you think?
