i started another because my other one had bad pics.


This tank is a 48 gallon bow front:

-40lbs of eco-complete
-2 Aqua clear 50s
-250w heater
-coralife PC 36'' 96 watt 6700K
- 2 nutriafin Co2 yeast and suger mix



Fish right now:

-2 otos (3 more to be added)
-6 panda corys

i still need some ideas on fish??
becasue i was planning on discus
but now have desided not to.
All suggestions are appreciated

Hmm, what are you wanting? Community and plant safe? If yes, seen as its a 48gal you could have a few large sized tetra shoals imo which look awesome in a planted tank.

I would agree, a huge shoal of small fish would look quality

Just some quick qustions-

How do you find out your Co2, because i think im losing tons because my filters.

Also, can someone help me out with Dry ferts im makeing the swith to them from liqiud and was wondering

which ones i need. this will be from gregwatson. ill need micro and marco for my plants CSM+B Plantex-

Micro Nutrient Trace Mix, Potassium Phosphate, Potassium Sulfate, Potassium Nitrate. is this rihgt?

How do i goo about mixing this in a .5 liter bottle and any other dosing info.


Im going to the lfs to most likly pick up 3 otos and 4 shrimp to help get ridd of my 3 kinds of hair algea.

also im going to get some more plants for the left side and will have some updates.

well to measure co2 you need to check ph then kh..put those findings in a calculator which will cross reference to a co2 amount..from greg watson i purchased my dry mono potassium phosphate then potassium nitrate to mix my nitrates and phosphates.the question i posted was for a dry powder i can use to mix up my micros,because im using tropica mastergro which is a micro i believe but really expensive..i will see if i can find a co2 calculator for you

Nice start

You have pretty low lighting, but fortunately most of your plants don't need a lot of light, did you intentionally choose those because of it? I don't think your Alternantha reineckii is gonna make it though...

I'm boosted my co2 sence the test to 2 bubbles per sec.

also i went to the fish yesterday and got 3 more otos and 3 Japonica Amano Shrimp which cost me me a wopppin $8 a peice.


pseud- I have 2.1 wpg? and my glosso and brazilan pennywort need high light.
The Alternantha reineckii or my red plant looks like crap in the pic because there about
a pound of algea on it so the leafs look not as red.

Quick update on thinks

now my Co2 is 23ppm aiming for 25-30 but close enougth.

k, i just got my dry ferts and mixed them in 500ml of water

but im not sure i did it right i used teh above doseing and adding

but to get as ner 1ml to 1ppm for KNO3 Potassium nitrate

it filled half the bottle and its been a day and none of them have Complete

disovoled?


also for stocking im soon to get some more stemed plants.

as for fish im getting 12 glowlight tetras, 10 flame tetras and 7 rednose tetras

and if i can find more shrimp.

Quick update, i just added 10 glowlights

and lost 2 have no idea why but my test

are all good and everything?

do glowligths need to be added into

a mature tank.

i dont think this shows how much more

its grow sence last time. im still look for

stemmed plants (but have not had any bad algea issues

, i have added a Wendtii, Green (Cryptocoryne wendtii)

and a couple java ferns. i also have a peice of driftwood

soaking but im to affraid to use it because it was from the beach.


Any comments?

Looks good, the glosso needs to fill out, but given time it should look great BTW if you're worried about bleach just use extra dechlorinator in the water your soaking it in, bleach it is just super strength chlorine after all!
