Hey

i got a female albino krib and she looked lonley so i went out and bought her a male but he is a normal krib not an albino

will they mate or should i got and get a albino male instead?

They will mate if she accepts him.

Is she mature?
Is he bigger than her?

BTW, If your trying to get them to mate, I hope you have another tank to put them in. They get VERY aggressive when breeding. Your going to run into serious problems with all the cichlids you have in the tank. :/

well he is bigger then her and hen i put him in the tank she has started getting a pink belly, does that mean anything,

and im getting a 6 foot tank in about 2-3weeks

She is probably trying to attract him (for mating).

Is he following her? Has she started "shimmying" for him yet?

Do you have lots of caves or plant pots? Thats where she will probably lay her eggs. Mine used a crevice in a huge piece of bogwood.

Some times kribs won't mate if conditions aren't right (overstocked tank, not enough hiding places, too low of temp).

On the other hand, if they do lay the eggs and your tank conditions aren't to their liking, they will most likely eat the eggs.

I'm tellin you, they get very aggressive when breeding and they will probably attempt to protect the fry if they hatch.

If your trying to breed them, your best bet is haveing them in a well planted tank with lots of caves. They should be by themselves (if they pair up, otherwise one might kill the other) with maybe a few dither or "target" fish. A 20g long or laeger is recommended.

Here's a good site with alot of info on kribs:

well she has been leading him on a little.

He has already made one of the caves in my peice of rock his home and only sometimes lets the female in.|

and ive decided not to breed them because of the lack of space untill i get a bigger tank.

thanx for the info anyways ;)

I hate to disappoint you Dwarf_dude, but you can't keep them from breeding unless you seperate them  If they pair up, they will spawn and wreak havock on your tank.

However, you may be lucky...I have a pair in my 40g breeder tank (see signature) and they haven't bothered anyone. They have been spawning constantly for the last 6 months or so, but no fry survive over 2 weeks, thanks to the community -_- The adults will simply chase the other fish out of "their territory" then stop.

You don't need a 6 foot tank to breed them. A 20 gallon, not even will do for them. Why not just buy the 20 gallon, make it all nice for them and put em in there? ;)
