I have been trying to breed albino guppies and think I might have gotten some but can't really tell. They are only about three weeks to a month old. Some of the fry are normal colored (grey with black on the tail coming in) and others are yellowish. I am hoping that its an albino strain but their eyes aren't red which would make me believe that they aren't albino. Does anyone really know?

A true albino has red eyes as the lack of pigment denotes the fact that we see the blood supply and not color (hence the red). I'm not certain that the guppies called albino are true or not - they may just be labeled that to say "very light".

Thats what I thought but I am not sure why a mutation would appear in my guppies so soon. I am inbreeding them on purpose to try to get a more pure strain. Some people find inbreeding bad but its how strains are formed in the first place. I was hoping for early success but I think your right. It must be a blonde body color instead of the dark color that the other guppies have. Nothing wrong with being optimistic though is there?

wow, now there are albino guppies?
