Airstone In Sand?

hey so if i put an airstone, or anysort of bubler in a tank with a sand bottom, wouldnt the bubler just contantly be lifting the sand and blowing it all around the tank? im jw

You wont be able to keep the airstone covered underneath the sand in the same way you can with gravel but what will happen is most of the sand will work its way off of the airstone leaving it exposed at the bottom of the tank with the bubbles just going straight up. You wont get sand being constantly thrown around your tank though
