I have a 40l nano tank with out any artificial airation and my plants and fish are thriving, All ive done is make the filters return spout thing stick out the water so it splashed on the surface.

Im thinking of using this metheod on my Jewel 96l tank, Does anyone know wether this will be enough?

Unless you have fish that need extra oxygen, you really don't need the aeration or the splash from the filters. Actually, it's bad for your plants. I doubt that you even need to leave the water down to create the splash. My 75 gallon tank has no aeration and the filter outlets are well below the surface so there is very little surface disturbance to add oxygen and the fish in it are fine. My 29 gallon does occasionally get low enough between water changes to create a splash but it's not by plan.

Should be fine... I don't use artifical aeration on any of my tanks and everything is just fine...

So do you think this is why the plant in my nano tank are thriving and the plants in my jewel arent?

as rdd said, normally placed filter outlets (just under the surface) will give more than enough oxygen into the tank. If its too high then the excess oxygen will reduce the amount of co2 in the tank which would inhibit plant growth.

Arr i see, Im just warry of changing things as i dotn want any deaths on my hads, But i could remove the aire gradually

I doubt you will have any problems. Any surface disturbance adds oxygen so even if your filter outlet just flows into the tank it adds oxygen.

Any half-decent filter will give your fish all the oxygen they need. I only have mine positioned to slightly ripple the surface so I can tell it's still working without having to open the cupboard every time I pass the tank.
