Hi, this may sound stupid, but just never known how these work due to not wanting any to be honest. I have got 3 air stones and a plastic pipe. In order for these to work do i just attach the pipe at one stone and connect to the pump at the other. Also does this still filter the water? Sorry if this sounds daft.

you've got the directions right for hooking up an airstone. In general it won't cycle the tank, unless you've got a very small tank, 2.5 gal max and it has a plastic tube to put the air stone in and a stand you put below the gravel.

Mainly, they are for decoration purposes, and to add extra oxygen when medicating fish

Thx i wasnt sure... my tank is 40g so i dont think its a good idea. I was just thinking this could slow down the current flow caused by the pump.

Its a 4ft long tank but the filter is quite powerful and has quite a strong current flow. Doesnt relly affect my current stock but could affect future buys etc.....
