hi,

does anyone know a particular air pump that is the most silent and will cover a whole 5inch bubble disk as the one i have only covers part of the disk!

im also thinking of getting maybe a 9 inch one or maybe a bit smaller so two different suitable pumps if possible

thanks

:)

thanks. but that confuses me lol.

i need a new air pump anyway because the one i have is noisy and im now using it for my brine shrimp hatching dowsnstairs and my tank is in my room.

i looked at those penn plax x5's but i cant find anywhere the output per hour.

i have this one...

it has 4 outlets but i dont want it upstairs because i dont want my shrimp upstairs (and cos of the noise)

it has 540L output an hour i havent found a stronger one except one that would cost me 75£ which i dont really want to pay that much. so i dunno if its 540 output divided by 4 so i might get a rena 7500 which is about 340l an hour. but on that there r two outlets so it might again be divided by two

The quietest pump I have is a Rena. I needed one with a lot of power to get air down to the bottom of a 72" tall tank and bought a TetraTec Deepwater air pump it delivers the power but is very noisy now 4 months later.

I think a Rena air pump would be the way to go for you. You can find them in almost any LPS. If you go to PetSmart where I got mine be sure to print out the page from their website with the price shown and they will honor the lower online price in-store for you.

This is just speaking from my experience, there may be a better quieter pump out there but the Rena 100 that I got for $14.99 works for me and is barely audible.

Oh yeah, I was a bit confused by the description in the post by BigC. Are you describing a reservoir (accumulator) type thing that will be pressurized by the pump then feed out to your gang vale? Also, when you say "drain pipe" do you mean PVC that is glued closed and then you drill for the air hose inlet/outlets? I would be interested in making one if it really helps the output.

thanks maybe ill try that one then if its quiet. but i found the rena 100 and it says 120 Lph output but mine is more than that and it still doesnt cover the whole disk. could there be a a prob with the disk? bubbles come out of half of it but not the other half. i would have thought maybe bubbles would come out of it all just lightly
