Air Lock On Filter

After doin me monthly filter change, when startin it back up it doesnt seem to be operating. I can here it trying to work, but theres a sort of grinding noise coming from the filter and not much is happening. I have a Rene Filstar Filter, last time this happend me mate made all the badness go away but i pretty much forgot what he did. Any suggestions how to get fix this?

rite .. have you primed the filter - ie is it full with water?

nah mate, i presumed Rena's self primed.

If it doesnt have water, then it has nothing to filter The blades will just spin.


There could also be algae growing between the blades, i had this problem when i was trying to remove my green water problem. The filter blades would clog, and would become extremely hard to start (sort of like a car starting with a low battery or no fuel). So you might want to clean those.

NAh the blades are fine, so like if theres no water in it, what do i to get water in it an all that, never had to deal with this before.

its all good, after many mouthfulls of rancid filter water i susd out how to deal with it, cheers anywho
