his tail looks bigger, its not gonna rot off an die...wooohooo!!! :hyper:

sorry, just had to say that, but once a fish that had fin rot starts to look better how long should you keep treating him and then letting him rest in quarentine tank till his goes home to big tank?

Not sure what you mean.
Can you answer some of the questions please.

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Finrot can be caused by bad water quality so that depends on your water stats in the main tank.
Has any fish been nipping at his fins.

20 gallon a.25/ni.25/ph8.2/na20---before large water change every day after water change a0/ni0/ph8.2/na20-same as my well water
5 female platys
2 female guppes

1 male guppy in 5 gallon a0/ni0/ph8.2/na20---nearly 100% water change every day, the male guppy is the one who I think got nipped by the one female guppy.

20 gallon going threw mini cycle.....power was off at my house and filter box went dry.

I am almost 100% positive he got nipped by the one female guppy and then got fin rot.

but today I was watching him and his fins look better, and he is swimming around and acting normal.

I would only add him back to the tank if water quality is good, if not leave him in his hospital tank.
I'm afraid once fish nip fins they need to be rehomed as they don't get along, it will happen again.

The water changes are to large it stresses fish as its atering your water stats to fast.
Do smaller water changes even if you have to preform them twice aday.

thats is a good idea, i was hopeing that the 20 gallon would finish its mini cycle soon though....I am certain its the one female guppy, cause I caught her atacking somebody else the other night too....woops forgot to add to the 20 gallon 1 very very small albino catfish, unsure what exact species.....the tiny catfish was the one the female was womping on the other day...now has been leaving everybody alone, but I think your right and she needs a new home with fish bigger then her, like mollys or something, cause she wont pest the bigger platys.

Well you could try issolating her but I doubt she will soon be back to her fin nipping ways.
The problem with rehoming them is that you just passing the problem on.
Good luck hope you sort it out.
