Hello experts!

I have a single male micky mouse platy in the tank who looked kind of lost so i decided to get him a friend platy and bought another male to keep him company as i didnt want a female and millions of fry! Ive kept platys in the past with no problems. Well the MM platy took a real dislike to the newcomer despite being ok with all the rest of my fish and they continually chase and peck at each other.

This has been going on for 3 months now- they are obsessed with dominating - I thought things would settle down. They dont do each other any physical damage but it cant be good for them to be harrassing each other 24/7! Can I solve this problem? I dont know of anyone who has a tank near me that I can give one to.

You may just have to bite the bullet and get a couple of girls to even it out. two boys generally will fight and harrass each other. is it a space thing where you cant have girls? Or is it just the breeding factor? Ive had boy and girl platys for ages and they hardly ever breed actually. And when they do i usually let nature run its course and dont bother scooping the fry up to save. The strongest survive...otherwise i wouldnt worry. Unless you really want to try to raise the fry.

Thank you for you reply. I could buy a couple of girls but i dont want the fighting to get worse - is it likely to over females?

ad a few more males and their should be less Aggression towards the same one.

if it's just 2 males then yes add more males so the domaniate male's then disperse their self over several fish and not jusy the one.
