Hi all. We just got our first tropical fish aquarium. We got a few Dwarf Gouramis at first, and a few weeks later got a few Mollies. We were told that they would do well together, but one of the Mollies is trying to kill the Gouramis. One of the Gouramis mysteriously died the day after we got the Mollies, before we noticed she was attacking them. We've had to seperate the Gouramis becasue she all but killed another one. She bites them repeatedly in the head with a feirceness. (And shes alot smaller than them which is strange - its as if they can't defend themselves) Is this normal? We got the impression from the store that the Mollies were not aggressive. But the store hasnt' really been very helpful anyway, they actually seem annoyed when we ask questions
Thanks for any input.

Incase its needed more specific info:

we have a 10 gallon tank

4 (i think sailfin) mollies (but they said they are small mollies - they don't grow as large as normal mollies?)

3 dwarf gouramis

 IMO petshops are a good place to buy fish but not such a good place to get questions answered.

Although they say they are non-aggresive and calm, I have my doubts.

Especially I have a silver molly and a swordtail that are very pushy and pick on my other fish although they have stoped a bit they arent as dosile as people say.

From what I have read....sailfin mollies are rather big mollies and dont stay small for long if you have them small.....also it seems a bit crowded in your 10 gallon....maybe keep your dwarfs in one and then get a seperate bigger tank for the mollies? Just a thought...please correct me someone if I am wrong...Hope everythings goes well for you!

yep your problem is overstocking no doubt about that, remember mollies can grow quite large considering your 10 gallon tank that is, slow down with the stocking, if not deaths will occur guarenteed
