We have a Red Platy which we are sure is male(?!?!), we got him about 3 months ago along with another similar Platy. We already had a female Micky Mouse Platy, but when the other Red Platy died the male chased the MM Platy around (especially when she was pregnant). The MM Platy gave berth and then died (we have four fry thriving in the tank now), the male Platy seemed lonely after that, so a couple of days ago we got a High Fin Platy (we asked the store for a femail), but the male won't leave the new one alone and even seems quite agressive.

We have put the High Fin in our nursary net in the tank to give him or her a break from the male, is it that the red male is being terratorial or over sexed?? We are considering buying another, hopefully female, Platy to distract some of the attetion away from the High Fin before we let her(?) back out in to the tank.

Any suggestions on what we can do the help the situation? :grr:

My male guppies had the same problem when I brought in a new female. Although they had five other females to chase around, they targeted the new one. After a day or two everything calmed down and went back to normal. So, as long as you get another female or two, it should all be okay within a few days :D

Thanks Kame-San we will certainly restock with females.
