I went to clean out my tank last night and noticed one of my brichardi has gone missing and one had no tail and was in distress.
I took it out of the tank to see if it could be saved but ended up putting it out of its misery.
It looks like the two that are left have paired up.
From what I have read these fish are not usually so agressive.
Anyone any thoughts?

Cichlids ae most agressive when breeding. Which is probably what happend. YOu brichardi have probably bred, the this one got to close, and they attacked it. He could have lived, they easily re grow their fins.

once brichardi start breeding they will pretty much kill anything that is stopping them from having the whole tank to themself. google "brichardi death squad" if you get a chance.
