Hi All just needed a bit of advice!

I bought a white molly (M) about a year ago along with a black one (FM) . It chased her all the time, and was really aggressive toward her. The black one ended up dieing after about 6 months :-( So he was the only molly left in the tank.

I then bought a new tank and also got 4 mollies 3fm 1 m. I thought he'd be more comfortable in the bigger tank with the other mollies, and hoped the time on his own would have calmed him down a bit. Well It didnt! :sly: He's more aggressive than ever, towards all of them, especially the other male. I was going to take him out and put him back in my other tank, but I had an outbreak of ich about 2 weeks ago. I havent seen any spots or any flicking for about a week now, do you think it's safe to move him in yet?

Thanks

I had a similar situation.

I believe the recommended ratio for Mollies (and most other livebearers) is 3f to 1m but even then we had one very agressive male that would not stop chasing and harassing the other male.

In the end we returned him on our next trip to the lfs.

Funnily enough, the Molly juveniles that we have are almost all females, with just one male........who is the image of our old "agressive" male, he has already started flexing his "bits" and trying them out, so we will see how he gets on.

we seemed to suffer from the opposite..an aggressive female constantly chasing the male...i do wonder if it was somethign to do with her being pregnant as about a week later she gave birth to loads of lil mollies and has been a lot better since.

We only had 1m and 1f but luckily the babies are nearly all female so will balance the sexes a little

:D Thanks for the reply's all, but do you think it is safe to put him in the other tank after the ICH outbreak? I'd hate to contaminate my other tank
