I swear I’m seeing personality changes in some of my fish, as I get closer to their proper water parameters ( my water was bad for aquariums… I’m slowly starting to rectify that) maybe fish that are living in a tank with water they don’t like may exhibit undesirable traits, because they are irritated???

Incorrect water parameters will stress fish and they won't behave normally. Lack of space, insufficient numbers if they need to be in a group, wrong diet, incorrect lighting for the species and a few other factors also cause fish to act unusually.

Which fish in particular are you noticing changes in?

A lot of things travel under the word "fish", and a lot of them have radical changes with time, maturity and changing needs. What do you have in there?

I don't currently have anything aggressive ( just mirroring existing threads ) but I was using whole house softened water for my tanks, & I'm seeing differing behavioral nuances as I'm slowly blending down my salty house softened water, with RO... most of these are typical soft water fish... my base house softened water has a GH of 75ish but the Ph is like 8.5, & a KH of 300 ( I've not tested the sodium )... so those fish have been "putting up" with my bad aquarium water, & are slowly being transitioned to their own water preferences

If the fish acting differently are soft water species, and they have been living in hard water, they could be starting to act normally or coming into breeding condition due to the softer water that more closely replicates their natural environment.
