so i have a fairly aggressive betta who i adore
i was wondering if it would be a bad idea to put a BN pleco in with him
10Gal US tank

Quite possibly if he is aggresive. one of mine wouldn't tolerate anyone in with him but others don't mind. All you can do is put it in and see how he reacts. Mine attacked immediatly so I knew then not to put anyone with him again.

I think it's a bad idea. A 10 gal. tank is not big enough for a BN...

i wouldn't use a BN as i agree with Sharon that the tank is too small for one, maybe ottos or smaller cories would be better

Agreed. Would probably be an ok tank mate, but the tank is too small. Otos or small corries would be better as said.

one way to test is to maybe try getting those plastic cups that petstores sell the bettas in and put the new fish in and float it in the tank and watch how the betta reacts to the new entity. The new fish will be safe inside the CLOSED cup. This sometime works but ive seen different reactions with my betta when completelty releasing the new fish...sorry lil guppy

By an amazing coincidence, I just mentioned these in a post.
And if I ever did put anything in my grouchy Crowntail's 10 gal, it would likely be this.

Tiny plec, inch and half, roughly, presumably less vulnerable than otos at much the same size: parotocinclus

And definitely want some - assuming I can find any - for the nano-fish tank I'm hoping to eventually get running in a (getting dusty) 30 gallon.

i saw them in the other post, nice looking fish, never sasw them around me before, was amazed when bn's then when they bred

btw them links don't work

I'm beginning to think you have some time on your hands. Just maybe.... :p

That or you don't sleep... and devote more time to fish researching than i do while being an insomniac.

I never knew there were so many different otos?!?!?!? That is news to me. Want to ID my Plec for me? I'm much to lazy to join the forums and ask. And completely can't be bothered to look into it myself.

<------ not a plec/catfish fanatic

I just don't sleep - I refer to it as an impromptu sleep deprivation experiment - and it's most annoying when you're too groggy to sit upright any longer and still can't flipping snooze...

Fish provide physical and emotional therapy, and why I can't use them as a tax deduction, I'll never know.

Lol, I'm the worst person to ask to ID a plec - I have a beautiful dwarf plec, no idea what he is, and don't really care, as I got requirements from the guy who sold him to me.
Maybe if I ever sleep enough to get a working brain and memory...
