aggresive alge eater?

I have a alge eater I'm not sure what kind he's a whitish creamy color and I remeber that his max lenght is 6". I did have two, but I lost one to unknow causes a couple months ago A while after that the other one started acting aggresive, more so during feeding. He would try to stop all the other fish from eating the sinking alge wafers. He also tries to attack any fish that swims by him (There aren't any fish that he can catch) is he doing this because he's lonly or is he just a mean fish?

Probably a Chinese Algae Eater. When they get bigger, they tend to eat slime coats off other fish.

He sounds alot like a chinese algae eater and if he is he will grow to 10inchs+ and continue to get nastier and more terotorial and your best option is to rehome him or get him a tank of his own- definatly don't put any other chinese algae eaters with him as they'll kill each other.

Yah! the name sounds right now that I hear it, will that harm the fish at all (he's about 4" right now)?

may not now or he may.....its all up to the fish. i would just get rid of him now before you have any probs or atleast get him his own tank

sorry to hijack but i have the same problem instead my fish is black. was same length about 4inches and i bought 2 and within an hour one disappeared, then the last one ate a guppys tail and killed a neon tetra. is this the same a chinese algae fish ?

I have to disagree with everyone here as i have never had any problems with CAE. Mine is 6" and only thing he chases is the albino shark out of his cave.
Hes lived with swordtails and guppys and the fry too.

i agree with Dan, the only fish CAE are deadly to are verticly compressed fish(flat fish) such as discus, angels, festivum etc etc
Other then that, no aggresion what so ever

My wife bought one about 2 months ago for her tank, I warned her that it may be a bad choice but she had already bought him and said she would just keep an eye on him.....like I said that was 2 months ago and we have never seen him since...
