Hi, a little question, when you fill a tub with water to save and let it age do you add tap safe or whatever to treat your water to the tub and then let it stand or do you wait until your ready to use the water and then add the treatment. I know it sounds a bit of a daft question but i suppose someone will give me a daft answer.

For the water changes I condition my water and let it sit for a few days. It's so the temp could match with the current temp of the tank. Thats me though.

I fill 5 l bottles and add the conditioner at the time I fill them.I then leave them for a day to bring the temp up before adding to the tank. Again thats just me though.

I never do let it age. Bring it up to temperature by adding water from the kettle, bit of dechlorinator, quick swish and straight in it goes. With two young children around, not to mention their irresponsible friends, I wouldn't trust any water that's been standing around in this house.

Mix hot and cold tap water together so it is 'near' your tanks water temp... pour in your water dechlorinator... mix... put it straight in the tank... job done....

Exactly as I do... Except when I forget to add dechlorinator then it goes straight in the tank when I remember. :*) Touch wood - it hasn't done them any harm so far.

Basement utility sink tap with a 50 foot garden hose. I am not going to drain 300 gallons weekly with buckets, then fill 300 gallons weekly with buckets. The water stands for a split second between exiting the hose & entering the tank, adding dechlor on the fly.

like some of the others I would add it when first filling the tub. I use a couple of spare tanks above the others with fish in.

Doing this I can just syphon the water down during a water change

Thanks

Rob

I fill a big tub straight from the hot / cold taps, add dechorlinator and then straight in the tank.

Starting to using a 50/50 mix with RO water now though.
