Hi all,

Just looking for a bit of insight and advice.

I currently have . . .

Rio 180lt

6 neon 6 harlequin 4 bronze cory 3 hatchet 5congo tetra and a pretty good sized scalare angel.

Would a male and female agassizi fit in? Would they be likely to breed? How is my stocking level?

All replies appreciated.

I'm guessing you mean Apistogramma? If so then a trio they will go in no problem. As for breeding, they should once they've paired up but chances are they fry will be eaten by the tankmates.

As for stocking levels, plenty of room

That is good to hear :hyper:

Anyone got any tips?

Or any tank mate ideas?

I would advice that you keep An eye on the angels as they are neon tetra's predator even it the wild!! Some guppies or zebra danios would be nice as well!!

I was worried too but it is well behaved and scarpers off whenever something comes near it lol

Thanks for the advice

stock some congo tetras in there. brilliant colours and a lively enough to entertain you all day

To top it off, if your local PAH have some in they are 5 for £5. Cant find them for anything less an £4 each anywhere else

Do you mean Boesemani? Unfortunately they do get too big for your tank at 5". Rainbows are happiest in groups of 6+, and Bosemani's being one of the bigger Bows need a minimum tank of 4ft. Are you planning a tank upgrade?

I didnt realise they grew that large. I thought they only grew to about 3.5 inch.

One day there will be an upgrade but ive just upgraded to the rio 180.

Yeah, even if they grew to 3.5" they'd still be too big for your tank, purely because they need to be in groups of 6. I have a group of 12 Dwarf Rainbows who are fantastic fish in my 190L, they only get to 2". They would have been a good choice for you, but perhaps not so many.
I wonder if your LFS would allow you to exchange them?
I'm not sure how quickly Bosemani grow, but my Dwarfs are certainly getting larger quite quickly.
