Do fish have an afterbirth? Just seen one of my mollies do the biggest reddest poo I've ever seen, then she ate it. Just captured some babies and also gave them frozen bloodworm today for the first time so it could be that.

No common livebeaarers do not, all the baby needs is provided by the egg.
How ever some rare livebearers to feed the young .

Goodeidae's are a type of livebearer that feed the young and when born some are 80 time's larger that the original egg size.

As for eating their own poo this is also common, using double digestion they get as much numeration possible from the food.
