I am looking at how I'm going to redo my 46gallon tank. I was talking with the guys at the lfs yesterday and asked them about the electric yellow labidochromis, which I've always loved.

I know that in general, Africans are some of the most aggressive fish out there but that some of the Tanganyikans are more peaceful than some of the others.

Would it be possible to build a Lake Tang community around my cories? The neons will be going in with the rams, so they're not an issue. My water is at a pH of about 7.0 and that's with a piece of driftwood, so I can take that out and stop adding the pH buffer slowly to slowly bring the pH up. Slowly so as not to stress my cories out.

If I can, what would be some good suggestions? I was looking at the yellow labs, possibly blue haps and/or brichardi. The lfs breeds their own brichardi and they're just gorgeous.

Thanks :)

Corydoras are peacefull, tangs are agressive and also prefer harder water.

So no in my opinion.

firstly labs are from lake malawi not tangs. although i would strongly advise not to mix any africans with cories for numerous reasons.

You're right (haps are too). I don't know why I was thinking Tanganyika, I guess I was thinking of the brichardi :S

OK, OK. I had a feeling I knew that answer even as I posted the question, but my cories are my #1 priority so I'll save the Africans for another tank someday down the road.

Thanks for not being too mean to me for asking the question B)
