I recently set up a 65 gallon tall as an African Oddball tank. It has some upside-down catfish and 5 African Knife Fish in it. I purchased the knife fish 3 days ago. One of them is about 3.5" long and appeared to have a full belly. It was in a tank at a LFS with 2 others which I also bought. (had to go to 3 LFS's to get 5 fish)
Well tonight I noticed the bulge on "her" is larger.

The reason I noticed is because for the last 4-5 hours "she" and another "assumed male" have been in the center of the tank above the plants doing what appears to be "The dance of love"!?!?! The "male" chases away anything that gets near her and then continues to rub against her. They ungulate back and forth for about 15- 20 minutes then hit the surface for an air bubble then back to it.
So my questions are:
Will I soon have eggs/babies??
Anyone have an real information on them?
How long do the eggs take to hatch?
How many babies should I expect to have?
Are knife fish "good parents" or do I need to seperate them?
I would assume BBS would be the food of choice for these newborns, right?
I have search on the 'net for breeding info but can only find that it is difficult to sex them and breed them, but no real information.
Any Advice or help is greatly appreciated.
