Hi folks. I have 1 male and 3 female hap fryerei and 1 female is mouthbooding and just about to spit. I was wondering if I should move her tomorrow into a smaller tank and fatten her up after she spits her fry. The last female I had died as she was a lone female and ate her fry. I think the male wanted to mate again and she didn't. As there are 3 females now should I leave her in the main tank or move her? I have a spare 10g tank with baby prawns in that I thought she could go in for a rest and a 10g cycled
for the fry. Advice welcomed.

Well, are you concerned about her or raising the fry? If it's only concern for her I'd just leave her be - she'll be fine with other females to occupy the male. If you want to raise the fry then you'll really have no choice but to move her at some point, unless you want to strip her. If you do move her you'll be able to put her back whenever you want after she spits - she'll be hungry, but not weak.

I'm concerned about both, would like to keep the fry, but am concerned about the female too. I shall try and separate the female tomorow and see what happens.
