African Cichlids

Hi people,
I have an African cichlid aquarium well established, its just under 40Gal.
The problem is, i have used a lot of rock to naturally increase the hardiness.
There is a lot of algae growth on it and i was thinking about a clean up crew,
Does anyone have any recommendations on what to get?

But they make a lot of mess and grow too big...

Os it ocean rock by any chance?

What sort of lighting do you have? Plecs aren't great in really hard water, you would need to research further about which plec to try.
