African Cichlid Colonies

Hi all, i was thinking of starting up another colony of africans, is it better to buy around 5-6 medium-sized fish together from the same LFS? or 2 from each LFS?

If your talking the same species and they are alll healthy then two from each lfs would be better, but it's hard to say how much...

Assuming your concerned about inbreeding in the hobby it is complicated and I don't pretend to understand it, my groups are as mixed as possible from different stores, but I doubt that most people do this

I heard alot of people say " buy 10 from the same batch and then thats your colony "

I seem to think its better buying different ones as well.

If you're planning on selling then different is better, if you plan on just keeping the fish for the aesthetic or project value of it then it really doesn't matter.
