Hello,

I was wondering if african cichlids can be mixed in the same aquarium with south american cichlids. Im thinking about cockatoo dwarf cichlids, brichardi, rams, kribensis, and some other smaller cichlids for my 29 gallon. So here'sthe question again "Can south american and african cichlids be mixed in the same tank".

Thanks,

Squidman

Short answer: I wouldn't.

Honestly, check the water parameters for the fish you want to put in. You'll find that most Africans aren't happy in the same water that most New World fish are.

well, in that case then i will turn my 29 tank into a south american cichlid and just keep the brichardi in the 10 gallon. My brother did mention a 15-20 gallon he could give me and it comes with the heater and everything. I think i will acept his offer and transport the brichardi loaches and gourami there and use the 10 gallon to rear somefry once ive got a suitable breeding tank with the perfect stats and a healthy breeding pair or two.
