I have a 125L tank with a fluval u3 filter. I'm currently cycling but intend on planting it right before the cycle finishes soon.

The filter uses a venturi valve which aerates the water at the top surface of the tank. I understand 'strong ripples' can reduce co2. Would a venturi valve have enough effect to do this?

Theres an example of the aeration here if it helps - (not my tank btw) My link

I'd prefer to aerate the water than turn it onto another setting so just want to know whether it would reduce co2 significantly.

Thanks for any help - Si

the venturi will blow off more CO2, they are only really there for acsteic purposes. As long as you have rippes, you have enough O2.

if the surface can be seen to be moving, then there will be gaseus exchange. This is why spraybars are good for planted tanks as it pushes the water more evenly through the tank. A small powerhead could be added to add more flow.
