I've never used aeration pumps/devices before but as i'm going to be keeping crayfish soon and they need a well aerated tank, I have a few questions.

My filter came with a tube that connects to the outlet that when connected sucks bubbles in to the water being pushed out of the filter. Is this enough?

Here is a pic:

There are more bubbles than the picture picks up, Going around the tank with the current.

Can I over-aerate?
What will happen if I do over-aerate?

Thanks guys :good:

ur lucky i couldnt even get my bubble tube on the filter working.
i would say thats enough but u can always add air stones if u want

The bubbles are for decoration mainly. What happens is that they increase the surface area which is really the only place that oxygen dissolves into the water.

What you have there looks fine :good: BTW to over airiate you would have to go sum

ok, i keep moving mine in different positions but no joy whatever i do, il keep trying though :)

I also cut the tube at an angle, You know, The way you cut plants so the surface area is larger and faced the angle away from the current so it is forced to suck water through.

oh i see, sounds clever but will it work for me, il try it out later!
