Hi all,

we are new to keeping tropical fish, and have purchased some platties, the other day one of the females got a little protective and warned off. When we switch the light off at night, we notice a tiny weenie fish comes out, it is only one as far as we can see....what do we do...does it need a different diet? We have two plants and it obviously lives in these during the day so getting it out would be a problem, can any one advise?

Many thanks,

Maureen :-(

There may be more, they can survive on there own without help, less will survive this way but dont forget she will have fry once a month. you can get breeding nets you hang on the inside of your tank to raise them in, if you decide to do this fine crushed flake is fine to give them 3-4 times a day in little amounts.
edit to say if you have a male you will get fry from most females on a reg basis
