i'm currently setting up my 55gal. this is what it will look like, should i put sand or gravel? should i take out the bright green plants? and what kind of fish should i get? thanks!

Really those are all tour choices. Look at others tanks and fish to kind of guide you in your decisions.

choice of substrate depends on what fish you want i used to have gravel but when i inherited a few corys i changed to sand i also bought some khulies, both prefer sand because they have barbles? i think thats what they're called, its the little tenticle thingies on thier face as for decoration and plants it entirely your own personal preference, mixed with your stocking choice, some fish need to have hidey holes to feel safe or escape, some are happier in schools, you need to research a few fish and decide what you want in your tank and go from there
