hi i was i think i have a prob i am running a mainly cichlid tank currantly all juvi's, 4 labs 2 colbolts 2 red zebras and one maybe red top hongi, about three days ago they started flashing against one of the slopes i have in the coral sand i thought it may have been ich? but they all do it in the same spot never against heater or rocks? the flashing only goes on for a short period then stops there is no visible white spots or patches on the fish theres no shuddering also the other fish in there are not showing any signs of flashing there are tiger barbs (yes i know bad choice with cichlids) 2 golden algea eaters and 1 pleco all of which are fine?
i've been using api test kit and only 1 thing bothers me

PH-7.8
AMONIA-0
NITRITE-0
NITRATE-5.0 is that normal?

has anyone got any ideas why the fish are flashing and is the nitrate reading causing stress to them?
any help would be gratefully recieved
:good:

The nitrate levels are great. I don't think that is what's causing it. I still don't have any idea why they are flashing, but someone will come along who might have a better idea.
