Sorry so many questions :/

Is it possible to add two small juli cory cat to my baby guppy fry tank the babies are only 4 days old, would the cory cat eat them?

Also I am feeding them 4 times a day on liquifry No 3 what age do I reduce feeding, if you could give me guide lines on feeding them until they are big enough to go in the main tank it would be much appreciated :) I have some freeze dried brime shrimp what age can they have some?

Last question is I am going on holiday for 7 days and have the baby fry in a tank on their own I am worried about leaving them, I can take the tank with me as we are not going to far and could take the tank in the car, and before we go empty some of the water out of the tank so it wont splash over. It is not a long trip about 1 hour 30 min.
Would this be stressful to them or can I leave them with an automatic feeder while I am away. I would be heartbroken to return home and find they have died.

I would appreciate any help and advice :)

First Question :: If a cory will or won't eat fry depends on the personality of the cory. I have kept my corys with 2 week old fry, with no problems at all. The fry actually love playing with the corys, and the corys don't mind them at all; just go about their business. It should be okay. :D

Second Question :: I would go about a week on just the liquifry, then reduce the amount of liquifry you feed each time, and replace what you took out with freshy powdered flake. I don't know anything at all about the brine shrimp, but I would guess if it's small enough for them to fit in their mouths, it would be great for them to have now.

Third Question :: Your fry should be fine going on a trip, as long as there is no gravel/heavy objects that could move in the bottom of the tank. My fry have gone tons of places with me, including a trip as long as yours (and a shushi restraunt lmao). They should be just fine :D

Good luck with your fry. How many have you got? I'm sure you've said and I just don't remember. Was it 9?

(Edit: my bad spelling.)

Thanks so much, I had 8 baby fry then the next day found another 2 :D so now I have
ten. :good:

If I take them on the trip will the vibration of the car cause them stress?

It is a sticky situaltion chance leaving them with a automatic feeder or take them with me, I would prefer to take them with me where I can look after them, they will be 2 weeks 3 days when we go

When you take yours with you do you reduce the water, for the car journey? Do you top it up when you arrive or just leave it at the same level till you arrive home. I can top mine up out of my main tank
when we return.

10's a good number :D

I reduce the water level quite a bit, and have learned the hard way it still splashes on unexpected bumps. If the tank is small enough, I suggest placing the whole tank in a grocery bag so that if it does splash, you don't get wet. I'd bring a gallon (or a few, depending on the size of your tank) of dechlored water with me and top it off when you get there. And you'll have to do water changes, so calculate that in too.

If you're going to add corys, I'd wait until you got back from the trip. I'm sure they would be okay, but just to be safe.

I think they would be much better off coming with you, unless you have someone to fish-sit :D

Thats great thanks so much, looks like I will be taking the little ones with me and will wait till after my holiday to add a cory if I decide.

Unfortunatly I lost one of my babies tonight :-( I was transferring them from the trap into the tank I had ready which wasnt an easy job and one of the babies died. I feel so sad now one died whether I caught it with the net I am not sure I am now on a guilt trip.

Are the babies easy to raise? or can they just die all of a sudden.

Thanks for all your help you have been great :good:

I think the worst thing to do is to try too hard. They're so easy, really, and people don't realize it. The first time is always the hardest. In the last week I've had 41 fry born, and the only thing I've done for them is put them in their own tank and feed them. Along with water changes, that's really all they need. I've never lost a guppy fry unless it was born with something wrong with it.

You're welcome so much; I'm glad I'm able to help you. It was only a month ago that I was here asking more questions than you could imagine.

And, I wish you good luck on your trip :D Hopefully you'll have plenty of people to show them off to wherever you go. I know when my fry went on their first trip, they were a hit.

Hi, our guppies have bred like crazy as they do and we give them away. We have no problems with them dying and we don't worry about special food for them either. We used to give them the drops but when we got so many we couldn't keep up and couldn't get them out of the main tank fast enough, we discovered they were eating what we gave the others and growing perfectly fine. Plus they eat the plants. When transferring them though, we avoid the net as it can hurt them at their small size. We use a small glass and scoop them up. Than we put them into a breeding container to get them used to their new environment than let them out. We have only lost 1 guppy and that was because it was half eaten.

Re the automatic fish feeder, our failed and lucky we were only away 1 week but all our plants were eaten and the fish were starving. I have used the blocks and they work ok.

One other thing, it is exciting when you have babies but they breed every couple months or ours do so make sure you have some place to keep them when they get bigger or your tank will have too many fish. We had to get another tank for ours and we started with just 2 baby guppies we found. We just gave 61 babies away and scooped another 48 out of our main tank today!

Good luck.
