Happy is an understatement right now. I bought two Angelfish today! They are only small - one about 6cm and one about 8cm but they are beautiful!

I took my Serpae Tetras out just after I added the Angelfish and put them in my empty 35l for fear of nipping although they seemed fine.

So, I now need some tankmates! The tank is a 90l and only has my two Angelfish in it. It's well-planted with plenty of hiding places such as bogwood.

I was thinking of getting some Neon Tetras. Although many have said you shouldn't keep Neons with Angels, my Angels are so small so would it be okay to add the Neons now so that the Angels don't see them as food?

At Maidenhead they had some fully-grown Angels in a show tank with loads of Neons and they were fine so I don't know what to believe.

Advice?

I don't know. My tank is 90l but I only want advice on conpatibility if you read the topic.

I think the reasons for asking the dimentions or the size of your tank is to work out if there is enough room to add places to hide or good cover it the tank is too small the fish will be on top of each other the bigger the tank the more individual space and the more room for plants, and caves theat the neons could swin into but not the angels. It the tank is deep but not long this will be different the same as with a Hex tank from what I know it is surface area that counts and tank shape not volume.

You won't hear from her again with that attitude!

Get a shoal of black neons (15), they look great, shoal tightly at lights on/off and are very hardy too.

Say sorry fool.

Umm... I didn't mean it in a rude way but I did only want advice on compatibility. If I wanted advice on how many of each species to get or how to plant my tank then I would have asked. No offence - didn't mean to offend anyone. :(

Thanks sjdriscoll and Moll. ;)
No offence taken Thomas but it is important to know dimensions of a tank when it comes to suitable stocking.
Angels like a tank with a minimum height of 18", any smaller and it's not really suitable long term.
The main reason for asking is because you would like to keep Neons with your Angels. If the tank is long, then with plenty of hiding places and cove, it may work. If it is tall and not very long, then it is more difficult for the Neons to get away should any problems arise.
Many people have found that introducing juvenile Angels and Neons at the same time usually works out ok. It is not always guaranteed though, as when the Angels are big enough, they may still see the Neons as lunch.
Unfortunately, fish can be unpredictable but with the above info regarding tank size, hopefully it will give you a better idea on whether it may work or not.

Just to add to what Stang has said, I believe tetra's are natural food for angels in the wild (someone could confirm this). But its not impossible to keep them together, again, from what I've read (not personal experience).
