Hi Guys.

I've now had my tank up & running for about 3 months including 6 weeks fishless cycle... I added 3 plants about a month ago with my first lot of fish. The plants are 2 Anubias Nana & 1 Anubias Hygrophillia both attached to wood...

My questions are which plant ferts should I use ?? I originally purchased Tetra Plantamin but upon research found out that Seachem Flourish is the standard to be at, however my plants have already got a few new leaves, new roots & are looking nice so considering the ease of growing my apparently easy to grow plants using the plantamin is the extra cost of Flourish worth it for me ??

Second question is will the above plants grow on clay caves ?? I'm now in the market to buy more of the same type of plants but I'll be running out of wood room soon.

Last question, are Nana easy subject to beard algae ?? I've seen some on a tiny leaf at the bottom of the plant which I've now pulled off but what's the best way to combat this problem if it appears in the future ??

Cheers guys.

If I were you, and the plants were healthy and growing well, I'd carry on as you are for now and see how it goes. No point fixing something if it's not broken. :)

Anubias can be attached to rock. I think they are susceptible to algae, because they are slow growing. I think giving them a gentle rub should remove it, depending on what type of algae it is.

Hope that helps!

Will they not grow on Clay then ??

I'd imagine so. It's just to keep the rhizome above the substrate so that water flows across it.

Do you mean like a clay pot? A terracotta plant pot?
If so I'd imagine it might have some difficulty in attaching to something so smooth where as rock/wood is a different texture.

They're probably on a par - One is probably better value for money than the other

Yea it's a clay cave, like a cichlid cave, if the smoothness is a problem what if I roughed it up a little with some sand paper ??
