Hi,

Although Im a relative newbie to tropical fish I've already decided to upgrade from a piddly 20 litre tank to a 60 litre.

I've had problems with some of the fish experiencing stress - basically through my learning as I go. Things appear to be ok now but I think the move to the bigger tank would be better for them all round.

I am obviously keen to minimise the stress on the fish as I move them, however, and wondered in what order I should do it. Should I move the fish that are more prone to stress first - ie. the gourami or should I leave her to last when all the other fish are in?

Also, how gradual should the moves be? I have 7 fish in total - 1 gourami, 1 small pyjama catfish, 2 guppies, 2 red phantoms, and another small mad one that I think is another type of catfish (must do my research.)

Any advice much appreciated.

TT.

Hmmm,

I'd set up the new tank with some old water and the filter etc, I'd then catch and float all the fish at once, add water to the bags a little at a time and after a while let them go. I'd keep the light off and perhaps even cover them to minimise stress. If you can, maybe set up the new tank with some old water to stop it being too big a change.

HTH and good luck with the move :)
