hi, i have bought a new 130L tank to upgrade from my 60L tank
when i got my 60L it was already a running cycled tank, so i have never actually cycled a tank.
i would like to no wether i keep my 60L runnning how it is and do a fishless cycle in my new tank, or wether it would work...
setting up my new tank and using my new filter and old filter together, adding the contents of my old tank including water, sand etc, which would make my new tank only have aprox 60L of new water,
hope that makes sence
any suggestions appreciated
thanks

Yep its called cloning a tank put everything from your old tank into your new tank inc filter and fish and your ready to go only down point will be the tank is only cycled enough for the current inhabitants so if you want to add more do it slowly or go out and buy 2 pots of soll baktinetts 1 pot does a 100 litres and place these in your filter and you can fully stock your tank.

Are you still going to keep your 60l running or are you just going to have your 130l up?

my house isnt big enough to run the two tanks, so my friend is going to have it as his hospital tank as he runs a huge marine set up

If you're going to be taking the 60l tank down, simply set up the new tank with substrate (you can put new in or move it from the other tank plus adding to it) and move everything over, including the water. The water doesn't help with cycling but it will mean you don't have to acclimate the fish since they will be going back into the same water they were in. You can then top it off with fresh water. The filter will have enough bacteria to handle the current fish you have. Just increase your fish load slowly, 4 or 5 at a time so you don't overload the bacteria. They will usually double in about 24 hours.

If your friend does use it as a q-tank for his marine tank, just let himknow if you ever used anything with copper in it in the tank. Copper is toxic to inverts and can be a problem as it can absorbed by the silicone in the tank.
