Hi,

Please could someone help me, I am currently setting up my new Juwel Vision 260 tank and i'd like to have about 1/3 of it planted. I have been researching into which plants would be best etc but i'm still confused. I'd like to have taller plants at the back gradually descending in size to very short at the bottom. i want plants that are fairly easy to maintain and that can cope with having the lights on for approximately 12 hours of the day.

The tank currently has High-Lite light unit including tubes 120cm, 2 x 54 watt but i have read things about reflectors etc??

Can anyone recommend me anything?

Also I have bought some aquarium substrate to put under the gravel along with the daily liquid fertiliser and will be getting a carbon diffuser soon as well. is this all i need to get me started? sorry for posting this as i'm sure its been answered 000's of times before (i'm just still puzzled even after days of researching on here!!)

Thanks

cut the lighting to 10hrs, anything past that plants do not really need it so algae growth can appear.
Get some aluminium reflectors (P@H sell them), this helps to direct more light down towards the water.
What is a carbon diffuser?
What size tank is it?

Sorry i meant a CO2 cannister.

The tank is a 260 litre Juwel Vision. its 120mc wide x 60cm high (from memory!)

Any advice on types of plants?

With 2 x 54w T5 you will be able to grow any plant. That its the lighting level what most people use on a 120cm tank.
There is a pinned thread with a list of plants at the top of this page.

What fertilsier are you planning on using.
