I am very keen to see if I can succeed in breeding my beautiful pair of blue dwarf gouramis. For the purpose I've acquired another aquarium, which is probably a bit small (20L /5 gallon), but is the one I'll have to work with.
The aquarium has lots of floating plants, a quiet water-flow and I religiously change water once per week, removing any waste lying on the floor in the process. I feed the fish twice per day - flake in the morning and a "tropical quartet" in the evening, on a rotation basis. The temperature is set to around 23-24 degrees.
Both fish are healthy and the male is fully grown. The male shows an interest in the female (swims around her), but hasn't yet started to build his bubble-nest. My local fish shop today advised making my daily water change with cold water instead of lukewarm, to mimic the effect of the rainy season. Whether or not this will work I don't yet know.
Does anyone else who has experience of breeding gouramis have any ideas?
