We have a fluval 200ltr tank that has roman gravel and we have just added some plants do we need to upgrade the subtrate also do we need to add a liguid fertalizer to help them grow I'm not sure what the plants are as we bought them from the ILF

here are some pictures any help welcome

Don't worry about the number of plattys in there they are going this afternoon :good:

With the plants you currently have your substrate should be fine. You might however want to dose your water with a trace fertiliser.

By the way, the green plant with the red edges is dracaena, which is a house plant not an aquatic. LFSs are a nuisance for selling them as suitable for aquarium use.

Argg does this need taking out? it was not cheap and I'm not impressed as the shop also sold me a male krib who once I got home I realised was clearly a female the grasses are also turning yellow after 2 days.

Either take it back, or plant it in a pot as it really does make a lovely house plant. As to the grasses, looks like founatain plant, which possibly would prefer a more nutritious substrate, you could try poking in some root balls at the base of them though.

Sounds like you have an LFS that is more interested in money than repeat custom. Like the one that many years ago sold me a pair of firemouth cichlids as friendly community fish. lol

Sadly it will cost us too much in petrol to take back I will be calling them to complain in the morning as we have 2 of the plants,

sounds the same as the rather large fish store in the north west of England that sold us a flag tail as a centre piece for our 200l we researched the type of fish we wanted went over chatted to the bloke told him what we had and what we wanted asked 101 questions and left witha flagtail trusting them as the shop had been recommended on many forums and told us our choices were not good for a community tank.
