Hi All,

I'm looking at getting my second tank and was thinking about some african cichlids - the biggest tank I can possibly fit is 125 ltr. Is it possible to host a number of smaller species? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

You have got to remember most cichlids can be aggressive.
I dont think you are looking at Mbuna cichlids as these need at least a three foot tank (180 litre plus) and need to be overstocked to spread aggression.
Maybe a pair of blue rams or gold rams would be idea in that sized tank.
Someone else might be able to point you in the right direction.
Hope this gives you an idea.

33 us gallons isn't enough for mbuna, peacocks, or haps from Malawi. There are some Lake Tanganyika cichlids that would work, though. I love julies  for example. Shell dwellers are popular as well. Do a search about fish from this lake and you should find all kinds of info. Then you could come post what you like and we could try to help with compatibility.

Thanks all. So I guess I should look into some Tanganyika Cichlids that the profiles state they could be housed in 33 US gallons?

Would a pair of Neolamprologus leleupi work?

What sort of numbers are you talking about with a 33 us gallon tank?
