Adopted Angels.

So, to cut a long story short, I was supposed to be essentially 'babysitting' my friends newly aquired baby angelfish whilst she sorted her tank to accommodate them. However it now appears she has bought 2 more and no longer wants the ones she gave to me...now me being me I have gotten quite attached to the little guys and want to make sure it will be ok for me to keep them?
At the moment they are pretty small, I'd say no bigger than a 50p piece (sorry for those of you who aren't UK residents) and are getting on great in my tank.
I have a 125 litre which my brother previously owned and successfully with 2 female (apparently) angels. However I am unsure as to what other fish he had with them.
My current stocking is:
6 Cherry Barbs
4 Platinum Tetras (though I was looking to up this to 6 before the angels came along)
6 Neon Tetras
2 German Blue Rams
7 Corydoras
1 Female Guppy

I have of course read about Angels and many people have said they are a no go with neons, however mine are about 2 years old and are quite big, at the moment bigger than the angels so I'm not too worried about them being picked off.

I do weekly water changes of about 20-30% and feed every other day (bloodworm, daphnia, flake and algae wafers) I'm not even sure which type of Angelfish they are, there is a black and white striped one and a pure black one, the black one being quite a bit smaller than the white.

Any advice appreciated!

Your biggest issue is that I'm afraid your tank's just not big enough for angels, long term. They ought (if they're not stunted) to get to at least 6 inches long and 10 or 12" tall, so they need a tank that's a minimum of 18" tall.

You might also find that one picks on or kills the other once they reach sexual maturity; it's very unlikely that they'll pair up, although you never know, and if they did, they would terrorise your other fish, so it's a bit of a no win situation there.

So sorry I can't sound more positive.

They'll be Pterophyllum scalare; the only other definite angel fish species are P. leopoldi and P. altum and no-one's going to be giving those away!

I have to agree with fluttermoth. They are not a good size fit with the rest of your fish. We tend to forget they are cichlids, and often behave accordingly.

Not to mention, once they get a little bigger and a little slower, the cherry's will not be able to stop themselves from nipping those beautiful fins. A solid black one,you say?....I must admit some jealousy!

Humph =[ I wish I'd never agreed to look after them for her! She knows what I'm like!!
So I couldn't even get away with one? I dont even know what to do with them now! Not like I can get any money for them at the shop as I didn't even buy them! Will I be able to hang onto them for the time being whilst I decide what to do?
I saw a gorgeous 200 litre today in my LFS but whilst I'm living with the parents 125 is definitely the max, mom wanted to stick with the Fluval Edge before I convinced her to go to 70 and then my brother convinced her to let me have his 125!!
What a shame, they are gorgeous aswell =[

I believe all Maidenhead Aquatic shops rehome fish, so it shouldnt be a problem if you need to unload them.

Bleurgh, never dealing with Maidenhead again. I had 3 dwarf gouramis die on me within a week and they wouldn't test my water to eliminate my tank being the problem as apparently water testing has been banned in all Maidenhead stores due to it being 'dangerous' they are a joke!
I might see what my LFS say, or see if either of my other two friends with bigger tanks want the adopt them off me =\

That sounds like a complete load of rubbish to me Take them to a different MA if you dont like the one you used. Its a big world out there.

I know but that one was a motorway journey away, so I don't really wanna travel miles and miles when I have little faith in them anyway.
I have two pretty good LFS's nearer to me, but they don't have such a wide range of fish (hence me travelling farther afield for fish) so I'll get in touch with them once I've definitely eliminated keeping them somewhere where I can visit ='[
