First you'll want to be sure you are getting true ADFs and not the clawed frogs which are sometimes mistakenly sold as dwarfs.Clawed frogs will eat any fish they can get their jaws around :p

And then as teelie said, feeding them could be difficult with so many other fish. They are not really able to see the food that well, and will miss stuff that is right nearby. To be sure they get enough takes a bit of time and patience.Mine knows now that the baster means food and eagerly comes to it for his meal. But as the food gets swirled in the water,I often have to siphon it back up and get it over to him again.Bloodworms are a bit easierto use than brine shrimp...but I like to feed both. It's fun (IMHO) to see the antics he goes into for his food. He'll sit right up on his back legs until he tips over when he sees the "frog baster" coming

You might think about setting up a smaller tank for just a few fish and frogs.

Thanks for that. I have a 50L tank cycled with nothing in it at the moment, Maybe i will put a couple in there.

could you keep a couple of ADF's in a 1.5 gallon tank?
Hi Discomafia :)

You sure could! I like the idea of keeping these little fellows by themselves, even if it is in a small tank.

Since they don't need heat (if your room temperature is reasonably warm and stable) or filtration they are very easy to keep in a small tank. Just dip a little water out each week and replace it with fresh, dechlorinated tap water. Every month or so, I give the tank a better cleaning by taking them out and swishing the water and gravel around to loosen the dirt. Then I dump the water out and swish in some used tank water from one of my other tanks to get rid of the rest while keeping the beneficial bacteria in the gravel. Then I empty it and refill with clean dechlorinated water.

They are great little pets, but do make sure you have your tank covered at all times because they are surprisingly good jumpers. :D

Thanks for the info Inchworm! I have read of people keeping ADFs in such small tanks, I was just making sure... :D
