I came home yesterday to find 1 of my 5 African Dwarf Frogs dead covered in some sort of white fur like mould.
This is the very 1st unexplained casualty I've had in my tank after having it up n running for around 3 months now but I'm still struggling to get it cycled. I done a water change of around 35-40% about 4 days ago and now my readings are Ammonia 0.25ppm, Nitrite 0.1ppm & Nitrate 5ppm. Also my PH has dropped from around 6.9 to 6.5 but not sure if this is related in anyway at all.
All my other ADFs seem fine and seem to be eating well but the ADF I found dead was on its back completely covered in a white furry mouldy like substance and looked very pale. I've tried to find out what this could be and the only disease that seems to match the description is Saprolegnia Ferax but I could be way off!?!

If anyone's got any idea what this could be or any advice on the matter then I'd be very grateful...

I haven't experienced it my self, but I've heard that fish can fuzz up like that in a few hours. It may not have anything to do with what killed the frog, especially if the others look fine. Also your tank paramaters don't look too good and I understand the ADFs to be very sensitive to water conditions. You should consider doing daily water changes until your ammonia and nitrItes get to 0.

I'm going to do gradual water changes in future (as you've suggested) rather than big ones all in 1 go. Also I'm using amquel+ every 24 hours to keep the ammonia & nitrite detoxified. I'm still unsure on why the frog could have died though.

I certainly never meant to imply that you were changing too much water. I'd do daily 25% changes or more. The goal is to keep that ammonia and nitrite as low as you can. Just be sure to change more than it takes to not lose ground daily on the toxic levels.

I'm just worried about messing up the cycle at the minute or else I'd be changing it all the time

I don't think you're going to harm that by changing water, it's more important to keep the toxins as low as you can while the cycle completes even if it were to add a few days to it.
