hi people, i have a 120 litre tank that is a bit overstocked for a planted setup.
i have an aquagrit substrate with clayballs around the plant roots
70watts of full spectrum lights with ballasts
homemede c02
and add flourish ferts and flourish carbon
i found that my fish where all gasping at the top during the day, so have switched my air stone on low 24/7, this has cured the fish and they are back to normal.

my ph is 7
kh is 4dkh
which i think gives me a c02 of 12 (have tested a number of times and it is consistent)
will this setup help my plants grow?

The tables don't work like that. The tables assume you are injecting CO2 and that the carbonic acid (when CO2 gas dissolves in water) is the sole purpose for that pH reading in that particular KH reading. Therefore you probably don't have 12ppm of CO2 because there are loads of other factors that alter pH in the aquarium.
With 70W of light over 120litres, you will need CO2, quite a bit of it as well. Pressurized is best because it gives a good, constant output. DIY yeast Co2 is unstable. ALgae loves unstable/low CO2.
To "measure" the Co2 in the water, follow this guide.
The amount of light you have and also the CO2 you will provide will also increase the nutrient demand of the plants. Therefore I recommend you dose Tropica Plant Nutrition+ at 6ml per day.

thank you for your reply!! very helpfull it has given me a much better understanding, i guess its a little more complicated than i was lead to beleive, thanks again!! :good:
