Are there any supplements/additives that we should have for our planted tank? Also what are the extra things that we would need to test for?

Post your tank stats, lighting, filtration, tank size, water paremeters (if you know them) and what are you adding right now and how heavily planted is the tank, basically any relevent information, people dont usually add any additives other than fertilisers unless its absolutly nescessary, but most peoples water usually dont require it.

But you need to add a bit more information if people are to help you get an answer.

well our plants are coming in the mail, and we will have a bit of xmass moss, temple narrow leaf, micro sword and rotala indica. i ordered 3 of each. its a 15 gallon tall 2 wpg, we have a whisper 20 running. ph is 7.0 ammonia-0 nitrite-0 and nitrates are 20

2wpg in a 15 tall is what i would consider low lighting :) check your plants if they will do oki with that lighting (keep in mind that the smaller your tank is the WPG rule breaks up)

(e.g. in my really small 2 gallon tank im running almost 23 watts of light)

with regards to the fertilizing

hope this helps

ok i recomend what Ken said, make sure you study the plants before buying them, but since you bought them, make sure your prepared when they arrive, i just ordered myself some plants and am getting ready buy buying higher wattage bulbs, (i have a 25 gallon tall tank) and you need some fertalizer, i recomend both dirt, and liquid, i use "PlantGRO- iron inriched" i recomend using something with lots of iron, the more the better, and make sure they have lots of nutrients, and it is safe with fish..... i paid like 5$ for mine at my local petsmart...

but if i were you and you sounded like you have several plants get some enriched dirt fertalizer, also at your local petsmart, and get lots of stuff to set up so you have it nice and ready for your plants.... just ask employees at petsmart, or your LFS.....
