additional fish

I would like to add some fish to go with my platty currently I have 4 female and 1 male. I also have a clown pleco. Any suggestions other then otos that I should add. I am planning on going to another lps to see if they got some nice otos. It is a 23 gallon octagon aquarium. I thought maybe I should get more platies but different colors but my bf thinks I need more variety. I am looking for someone elses thoughts on this.

how about guppies or small tetras like neons or silvertips
