Adding Wood To Tank

im a newbie when it comes to alien tank decorations

i wish to add some would from my back yard into my 50gal

would i have to treat the would first? if so, how?

don't bother... more trouble than its worth imo... it may be infested with something horrible... may not sink... may leak nasties into your tank... go for Mopani or Bogwood from your lfs - or ebay (cheaper)... scrub it, inspect it and soak it to remove any tanins...
