Could you add Rowaphos to new aqurium water which you will adding to the tank at a regular water change?

I am asking this because im getting aload of Hair algea and i have to remove lots everyday.

I have recently switched to a new lighting schedule after reading another topic here, 5 hours on,2 off and 5 on to try and help with the hair algea probkem temporarily.

Would the Rowaphos work?

Rowaphos will remove phosphate from new tap water and old aquarium water, it removes phosphates from any water.

Have you measured your tap water and aquarium phosphate levels?

There may be other contributing factors to your hair algae. To answer your question Rowaphos will remove phosphates but bear in mind this may not necessarily remove algae. What lighting levels/type, CO2, fert regime, plants do you have?

Here is all my tank information.

2x 18W Arcadia Freshwater
1X 25W Arcadia Original

Nitrate 5-10ppm
pH 7
KH- Around 5.7

Root tabs which i brought for the Swords from Nutrafin which contains phosphate but say its slowly released.

I dont know phosphate the level i will never know but i guess its high.

Plants are: Hygro Polysperma, Hygro red leaved variety, Amazon sword, Hygro Stricta, hyrgo corymbosa, amublia, sag P, type of crypt, vallis, Riccia, E. Tennils.

Maybe its Root tabs?

EDIT: i think its Thread algea i have not hair algea. The algea is like long thin strands of thread. :fun:

Why buy expensive Rowaphos when you may not need it? I would buy a phosphate test kit first. I use the Nutrafin type.

Because i will have to buy the test kit from a website and that means by the time ive aded P+P it will cost around 6-7quid. Then if it is phospahte i will then have to spend more money to buy Rowaphos. So i figured that if i just brought Rowaphos firstly it would be cheaper.
